Smart Machines began in 1984.  In our earliest days we sold computer equipment, planned and installed network systems, consulted on integrated business solutions, and developed custom software.  We worked with a broad spectrum of small businesses, professional groups, credit unions, and world-class multi-national resort hotels in Hawaii.  Our staff is made up of professionals with extensive management, programming, accounting, and nonprofit experience. 

Flexquest was created in 1988.  In our work at the resort hotels we saw the need for custom designed databases.  After searching for the best programming language, we chose FoxPro which later became Microsoft's high end database.  We designed Flexquest for the resort hotels' use in their marketing, real estate, club membership, and property management work.  Later, we used our industrial strength Flexquest shell and developed the first nonprofit Fund Raiser version for Hawaii Right to Life.

Flexquest spread across the country in the 1990’s.  The success of Flexquest generated inquiries throughout the country and we started selling Flexquest to diverse nonprofit groups. We now have many large state and national membership-based organizations using Flexquest, some managing well over half a million records. Most have dramatically streamlined their fund raising activities and increased their revenue.

Flexquest Modular came in with the new millennium.  To respond to the demand for a low cost system that would require very little technical support, we radically redesigned and simplified the user interface.  Over the past several years many new powerful features have been added and an extensive on-line help system is now in place.  Now, with charitable organizations, prolife offices, and crisis pregnancy centers across the country using Flexquest, we have devoted our resources exclusively to serving nonprofit and life affirming organizations.
